From Córdoba city a tarred road leads to Villa General Belgrano, from where an unpaved road leads to the remote and almost hidden village of Cumbrecita. Even more secluded is Estancia las Cañitas, situated along a sidetrack just a few kilometres before Cumbrecita is reached. Space, tranquility and nature start right here: an off-road meanders through grass-covered hills and thick forests of pine, birch and oak right up to the Estancia, where visitors receive a warm welcome.
Luxurious Accommodation: Lodges With Panoramas
Eleven cabanas are spread out over the hills and forests, in varying proximity to the clubhouse and each can sleep up to six guests. The lodges are constructed of stone and wood and have a glass front, offering unique views – a panorama of the vineyard and hills or scenery of the river meandering through the forest. The cottages are heated with wood-burning stoves and feature a kitchenette, living room, balcony, bedroom and bathroom – including a whirlpool bath.
Ecological Meals and Local Wine Production at Estancia las Cañitas
The fee is 300 pesos per person per day [about US$100] and includes all meals and activities. Dishes are homemade with fruit and vegetables from their own gardens. Meals are served in the restaurant, but on request can be delivered to the cabin as well.
In the Estancia's wine cellar outstanding wines are ready to be tasted. A new activity starting October/ November 2008 will be their own wine production: Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Sauvignon Blanc. Wine to accompany meals, or to be bought by the bottle.
Outdoor and Indoor Activities at Estancia las Cañitas
The extent of the estancia, 1,300 hectares, offers a plenitude of outdoor activities: horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking or simply lazy rides around the countryside, where a condor, fox, or skunk may be spotted. There are possibilities for fly fishing, hunting or guided tours in the region. Services include a babysitter as well as recreational programs for kids.
Cold or rainy days are perfect moments to get together in the clubhouse, with couches arranged around a large fireplace, a pool table and board games to enjoy.
Cultural Activities in Córdoba Province
- Another option is driving to Alta Gracia to visit one of Córdoba's famous Jesuit Estancias of the museum of Che Guevara.
